The Butler Did It
By Laurie Yarnell

Fido’s out of diet dog food, your mother-in-law’s lonely, your Jimmy Choos have gone missing in the clutter of your closet, and your family’s fed up with fast food. What’s a desperate housewife to do? Call LifeWorx, a new Chappaqua-based company that bills itself as “a part-time intelligent butler.”

“We do extra tasks that people don’t have time for and would rather not do themselves,” says LifeWorx CEO Bal Agrawal. “People are used to outsourcing their lawn care, but not delegating tasks like organizing their paperwork, going shopping, or preparing meals. They spend a lot of time on chores and errands, then wonder why they don’t have more free time.”

The company can tackle just about anything on one’s to-do list. One staffer walks a 97-year-old client’s beloved poodle daily, and Agrawal himself retrieved and returned a forgotten backpack of homework during near-blizzard conditions. The company’s 15-plus employees include organizers, eldercare consultants, chefs, and cleaners.
